Anita graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Point Park College in Pittsburgh, PA; and she earned a Master’s degree from Wilmington University in 1999. Her experience includes being a drug and alcohol counselor at an inpatient treatment facility where she also facilitated small group sessions. She worked with patients with dual diagnosis disorders (combined mental health and substance abuse issues). She is an advocate of the 12 Step program of recovery and believes it is an effective tool for change. Her counseling experience also includes being a therapist at a family services agency. She worked with a wide variety of clients with many presenting issues. Her counseling work entailed working with adults, children, adolescents, families, and groups. In addition to counseling, she facilitated Parent Education classes, Stress Management workshops, and the Changing Families Group for children of divorced families. Anita’s approach to counseling and healing includes focusing on the mind/body/spirit connection. She’s a strong advocate of using journaling as a tool for healing and self-discovery. She believes that stress management, self-care and finding life balance is an important part of wellness. Her personal interests include spending time with family and friends, relaxing at the beach, enjoying nature, journaling, and reading. She has been on the Delaware Counseling Association Board for the past three years and a member of the American Counseling Association since 1999.
